Scientific research is expanding faster than ever. At the same time, new forms of media provide more choices to connect. There is a need for skilled writers who understand both science and cutting-edge communication tools.
With a Master's degree in biomedical sciences, I went to work in the pharmaceutical industry, where I started in sales and marketing and then moved into medical writing. I then broadened my work by becoming a science writer for an international astronomical observatory. Now as a freelance writer, I am both a journalist and an educational writer.

Travel Writing
With almost as many stamps in my passport as writing credits, travel writing is a natural extension of my work.
My first article about the Maui Arts & Crafts Guild entitled "Collective Soul" appeared in the February 2008 edition of Hana Hou!, the in-flight magazine of Hawaiian Airlines.
Speaking & Presentations
Need help polishing a presentation? There is both art and science to public speaking. I use the latest research on adult learning to maximize the audience retention.
People often ask me how I got started, where I find story ideas and clients, and how I pull it all together. I enjoy sharing my experience through engaging and fun seminars on various aspects of freelance writing. Previous audiences include students, scientistis-in-training, and medical and research professionals.
